Worms Zone A Slithery Snake

Eat food, grow longer, and avoid every other body. Your own tail becomes the biggest risk, so grow where the room is wide.

Grow Wide, Turn Early

Giving a longer body room to turn

Every size of worm shares the same arena, and the rule never changes: eat the food to grow longer and avoid touching any other body, including your own tail. The danger that grows with you is your own length, because a long worm needs plenty of room to turn. Choosing where to grow matters more than how fast you grow, and reading the open space around you is most of the game.

Feed along the outside before the middle

The centre of the arena looks like the richest feeding ground, yet most collisions happen right there. Feed around the outer edges first, where the space is wide and the largest worms rarely travel. Growth earned in quiet areas is growth you can actually steer, because calm feeding leaves you room to react. The edge also gives you a clear view of the big worms heading your way, which is exactly the information the middle never offers.

Give the large worms plenty of margin

Large worms follow wide arcs and change direction slowly, so read where they are heading before you pass close. Keep at least one full body-width between you and each, and more when they are mid-turn. Most runs end when a small worm cuts across a line a bigger worm already picked, so read their momentum as a clue instead of dodging at the last second. Extra room also protects your own tail, since a wide margin gives space to turn if the route closes.

Begin the turn early when space gets tight

In a crowded moment, a sharp turn is the fastest way to meet another body. Start the curve early and keep it broad, because a gradual arc keeps your tail on the outer edge where it cannot cross into you. Broad curves need extra space, so begin them while the gap still feels roomy and the turn will finish cleanly. When the opening already feels tight, the safe path through it is gone, so look for the wider route before you commit.

Read each ended run as a map

Even a short run has value, because every ended attempt reveals the exact place where space ran out. Check whether other worms or your own tail trapped you, then alter the path that carried you there. Steady rounds last longer than bold ones that finish fast, so treat each miss as a lesson about the course. Every ended run is a map of where the crowd sits, and the next attempt can start from what that map shows.

Questions from inside the arena

Should I risk crossing the middle of the arena?

Only once you are already large and have enough room to swing around, because a long body needs a wide turning circle. Early on, the middle is crowded and its food carries a strong risk of a crash, so feed along the outskirts first. Move into the centre only when your own length can manage the space there. Better to arrive at the middle late and alive than early and caught.

How close can I safely crawl?

Keep at least one full body-width between you and every other worm, and more when that worm is large or just starting a turn. Your own tail claims the same room, so fold it into every choice you make. When the opening already feels tight, the safe path through it is gone, and expecting to squeeze through is how most close calls happen. Extra margin costs nothing and buys you the time to react.

What changes when my worm grows longer?

The main change is the space your own body needs, because a longer worm demands a wider turning circle and more room between its sections. The centre of the arena becomes riskier as you grow, since there is less space to complete a broad curve. Feeding along the outer edges and starting turns early keeps the extra length manageable. Growth is still worth chasing, but only in places where you can steer it.

What should I do after a run ends?

Start again and treat the last run as information, because the spot where the attempt ended shows where space ran out. Check whether a worm or your own tail trapped you, and steer clear of that route next time. A careful steady round usually outlasts a bold first one, so rejoin the arena at the outskirts and build length before taking risks. Every ended run sharpens the read you bring to the next one.
